He couldn’t say when exactly; however, Southwick House Board President Jeremy Dorsey tells KVOE News the agency may have an exciting announcement about its future within the next week.
The agency has been searching for a new director since before the start of the new year, when inaugural director Susan Brinkman announced her departure from the agency to assume the role of Kansas City Development Coach for the Kansas Methodist Foundation. During his interview with KVOE News, Dorsey praised Brinkman’s leadership of the agency over its first three years, saying that without her, he does not believe the agency would be where it is today, saying she helped to organize the organization.
According to Dorsey, the agency’s search for a new director looked at candidates both in and beyond the local community; however, they did largely focus on local individuals, saying it was important to the board for their next leader to have a good “lay of the land.”
The search for the new executive director comes as Southwick is nearing its $3.6 million campaign goal for the establishment of its new 9,000 square foot transitional housing facility at 115 East Logan. At last word, the campaign was roughly $300,000 away from its target.
