Within the next three months, ABZ Valve will halt its workflow in Madison.
ABZ has told its employees it plans to end its Greenwood County operations in May. Mayor Paul Dean says this is part of a company plan to relocate those operations in Illinois.
ABZ Valve is a subsidiary of ASC Engineered Solution and has had a presence in Madison since the late 1970s. The company makes pipe connections and valves for a range of business operations, including commercial buildings, oil fields and power plants.
Dean says the shutdown eliminates 45 jobs and ends operations for Madison’s largest employer. He says this is a “huge loss for the community,” making for a difficult time for the employees, their families and the Madison area.
