A day of networking, development and music is coming to Emporia’s 10 West Grill and Dive Bar this weekend.
The Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM), a regional affiliate of Folk Alliance International, will be hosting FARMette at the local establishment throughout the day Sunday. Folk Alliance International is a global nonprofit founded in 1989 and based in Kansas City, Missouri.
The mission of the organization is to further the purpose of the folk music genre by creating stronger communities and support for the international folk music community through various programs and resources. The organization holds an international conference each year, normally in the Kansas City area, with smaller regional conferences also taking place throughout the year.
FARM President and Good Way Gardens Director Elexa Dawson says FARMette is a brand-new opportunity that was born out of a desire to help bring the organization’s resources and programs to a more local audience.
Activities will take place throughout the day and evening, with networking and workshops taking place during the late morning and afternoon hours.
Evening showcases, which will consist of “short” 20-minute performances, will begin at 6 pm and run through 8 pm on the main stage at 10 West and are free and open to the public. The event will also include a keynote address from Emporian Kelly Hunt, which must be registered for according to Dawson, who also says she is very excited to have Hunt in attendance.
For those who would like to register to attend the conference portion of the event, spots are still available, roughly 20 at last word. Also during her recent interview with KVOE, Dawson stated the schedule for the 2026 Good Way concert series is in hand with the first concert taking place on Easter Sunday; however, she could not divulge the full lineup just yet.
Additional information on that schedule, as well as FARMette, can be found by visiting Good Way Gardens on Facebook.
