Four people face criminal charges in Chase County after allegations of illegal hunting dating back to at least 2022.
Michael Bockman, Tyler Dickerson, Brody Harrison and Spencer Harshman all face charges after several alleged incidents.
Of the four, Harrison faces the most counts — 38 – while Harshman faces 18 counts, Dickerson faces 12 and Bockman faces 11. All face charges to some level in several main categories: hunting without licenses, tags or permits; hunting in closed seasons; hunting from vehicles; wanton waste; illegal commercialization; and conspiracy. Besides deer hunting, Harrison also faces charges related to illegally hunting coyote, crow and dove.
In his legal complaint, Chase County Attorney Brian Henderson has specified one text thread involving the defendants dating to Halloween and Nov. 1, 2024. In the thread, the defendants allegedly discuss illegal equipment like spotlights, so-called “quiet guns” and updates on at least one illegal hunt in progress.
All four defendants have first court appearances March 26 in Cottonwood Falls.
