Kansas Highway 177 has a major makeover ahead between Council Grove and Strong City beginning next week.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced a highway reconstruction and a bridge replacement starting Monday. This will close the highway to all thru traffic from the K-177 junction with US Highway 50 outside Strong City to the US-56 junction in Council Grove. This also sets up a 73-mile detour involving US-50 and US-56 to the west, as well as US Highway 77 and Kansas Highway 150.
This is a nearly $10 million project. Work should go at least into this upcoming fall.
