The Lebo Wolves punched their ticket to next Friday night’s Sub-State Championship with a 59-39 victory over Waverly on Saturday afternoon in Lebo.
Lebo came out strong, building a commanding 14-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. Waverly battled back and steadily chipped away at the deficit, trimming the margin to six points on several occasions. The Bulldogs were still within striking distance in the fourth quarter, but the Wolves responded down the stretch, pulling away late to secure the 20-point win.
Dennis Becker said his team won the game in the halfcourt.
Colby Fehr led Lebo with 15 points, providing a steady offensive presence throughout the contest. Waverly was paced by Alec Stice, who also finished with 15 points.
With the win, Lebo advances to face McPherson Elyria Christian next Friday night in Hartford for the Sub-State Championship. The KVOE Family of Stations will broadcast the game.
