Matthew Baker is officially on the job.
Emporia State University’s 19th president began meeting with faculty and staff Monday as part of a busy week, including more meetings on and off campus.
Baker was appointed in December to follow Ken Hush as Emporia State president. When he was hired, he said he plans to use data to drive decisions.
Emporia State enjoyed a successful enrollment report across the board this past fall. Baker wants to build on that success while also continuing work to enhance the campus-community relationship.
Before his hire by the Kansas Board of Regents, Baker served at Northwest Missouri State University almost continuously since 1993, with roles including director of residential life, dean of students and his current role, vice president of student affairs. With Baker on board, interim president Taylor Kriley will focus on her original roles as the university’s executive vice president of enrollment management and student success.
