It’s election day for USD 417 parents and patrons.
Voters are being asked to support a 30-year, $31.5 million bond proposal that will lead to numerous improvements at Council Grove Junior/Senior High, Council Grove Elementary and Prairie Heights Elementary if approved. The bond would also lead to a 5-mill increase for residential property, as well as commercial property, dry cropland and grassland.
USD 417 covers most of Morris County, as well as northwest Lyon County, western Wabaunsee County and parts of Geary County. Polling places include the Community Christian Church in Council Grove for both Morris and Lyon County residents, as well as as Dwight Community Church, White City Community Building and Grandview Community Building in Morris County and High View Church in Alta Vista.
Polls are open from 7 am to 7 pm.
