A piece of the FIFA World Cup experience has come to Emporia.
In a news release from Visit Emporia Friday, it was announced that Emporia is playing host to the official 2026 World Cup countdown clock. The clock marks the exact time from kickoff in days, hours and minutes for the first-ever 48-team World Cup coming to the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer.
In the aforementioned news release, Visit Emporia Director Matt Fowler says, “Hosting the World Cup countdown clock is a great opportunity for Emporia to share in the excitement of one of the world’s largest sporting events.” The clock is currently on display outside of William L. White Auditorium and will remain in the community through March 26th.
The community is welcome to visit the clock, take photos and share in the countdown experience while it remains in the community. KVOE News has reached out to Fowler for additional comment.
