The Kansas Turnpike Authority says it has several important projects ahead, now that the annual construction season is officially underway.
The KTA plans to redeck and widen a bridge at mile marker 101.4, about four miles northeast of the Matfield Green service area and just over 25 miles southwest of the Emporia gate. Work should begin soon and continue into November.
Pavement resurfacing will also be a big project from the Emporia service gate to northeast Topeka. Work started last fall from the Emporia service area northeast to the Admire gate. Work will continue on this stretch of highway into October, while work begins this summer from the Admire gate to northeast Topeka. The total project cost is around $20 million.
