Fire activity areawide was minimal Saturday despite elevated fire danger.
Shortly after 1 pm, Americus and Emporia firefighters responded to a small grass fire in the 200 block of Road 230, about 3 miles west-southwest of Americus. Less than an acre burned before the fire was put out. A cause has not been listed.
Winds were between 10-20 mph at the time of the fire.
Fire danger was high for much of Saturday thanks to high temperatures in the 70s, drying grasses and afternoon gusts near 25 mph.
