Kansas 110th District Representative Ken Rahjes is going across Kansas highlighting his run for Kansas Secretary of State, and he stopped in Emporia on Friday.
The most public part of the Secretary of State’s job deals with elections. Rahjes says residents want to make sure their votes are counted and those votes are secure. He says that’s true in Kansas now and he plans to do what he can to make sure that continues.
Lesser known responsibilities for the Secretary of State include business filings and other business-related matters. Rahjes says he wants to continue the work of current Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Scott Schwab to make life easier for business owners and entrepreneurs.
Rahjes also stopped in Cottonwood Falls as part of his time in the Flint Hills.
Besides 11 years in the Kansas House, Rahjes is a well-known ag broadcaster, as well as a business owner. He has also worked for years on the family ag operation and has spent time in financial services.
Rahjes currently faces a primary with fellow Republican Pat Proctor. Democrats in the race include Jennifer Day and Samuel Lane.
