The Emporia State tennis teams started spring break with duals in Florida on Tuesday. The men dominated in a 7-0 sweep of Vassar College. The Hornets didn’t drop a set on the day and only one set was as close as two games. Mostafa Elbasnaly dominated at #1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win while Diego Calvo dropped just two games to win at #2 singles. The Hornets are back in action Thursday facing Rollins.
Meanwhile the Lady Hornets had the opposite result suffering a 7-0 sweep to #44 Angelo State. E-State lost their two doubles matches winning just four games but were leading in the third doubles match when it was abandoned. The Rambelles won in straight sets at #5, #6, and #3 singles to quickly clinch the match. ESU is back in action Wednesday to face Tampa.
