Speed limits are adjusting just north of Emporia and near Olpe.
Lyon County Public Information Officer Vici Smith says the Kansas Department of Transportation is reducing the speed limit on Kansas Highway 99 from Emporia’s north city limits to Road 187 from 60 to 45 mph.
The K-99 speed limit outside Olpe goes from 60 to 50 mph on both sides of town.
In unrelated signage news, Lyon County is receiving $620,000 to upgrade signs on all county roads. Funding comes through the state’s High Risk Rural Roads program, which is designed to limit the risk of serious or fatal crashes.
