Policy and purchases will be considered by Lyon County Commissioners when they convene for their regular action meeting Thursday morning.
Commissioners will be conducting a review of animal-at-large issues and may approve a resolution regarding dog control in the county. This will come after commissioners review and consider approval of the 2026 weed spray chemical bids from Nutrien Solution and Van Diest Supply Company, totaling just over $300,000 for the Noxious Weed Department and a request from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office to update a detention center locking control system for more than $220,000.
Also to be considered will be a quote from Railroad Yard for a steel plate and tank car estimated at just over $33,000, a quote from Gateway Pipe Inc. for a tank car totaling just over $13,000 and a request to have 4 cylinders resealed for a Highway Department excavator for just over $5,000 by Northeast Kansas Hydraulics. All of those requests will be presented by County Engineer Wayne Scritchfield.
The meeting will begin at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
