Having considered a run for office for several months, Roland Trahoon II is throwing his hat into the ring.
Trahoon has filed for Lyon County Commission District 1, the seat held by fellow Republican Ken Duft. Trahoon says he wants to give back to the community after recently retiring from Evergy to cap a nearly 40-year career, and he says that work experience will serve him well if elected.
Trahoon says the top issue facing Lyon County now is economic development.
Trahoon says property taxes are a major concern for voters and commissioners. In general, Trahoon wants to foster business growth as the best way to reduce the property tax burden.
Duft has filed for re-election. District 1 is the only County Commission seat up for election in this cycle.
The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline is noon June 1.
