From the city of Emporia’s viewpoint, the Cedarbrook Meadows process may come to an end Wednesday.
City commissioners may well approve a Planned Unit Development and the final plat for the nearly 40-acre development along the north side of West 18th between Jones Aquatic Center and Americus Road. Thirty acres is being reserved for a better-than-120-home development, while the remaining property north of Frontier Farm Credit is being reserved for commercial space.
Separately, commissioners could annex land at 615 Overlander Road as Flint Hills Technical College looks at that space for its Precision Agriculture and Commercial Drivers License programs. The land would retain its Light Industrial status if annexed from Lyon County.
Commissioners could also approve over $13 million in General Obligation bonds to help with numerous projects, including the remodel and rehabilitation project at Fire Station 2, Flint Hills Crossing or the QuikTrip construction project, Overlander Road construction and purchases of a new aerial fire truck and a street sweeper.
For study meeting matters, commissioners will discuss a franchise agreement with Evergy. Commissioners will also have their third discussion of the year on strategic direction.
The action meeting begins at 11 am Wednesday at the Municipal Court Room. The study meeting follows at White Auditorium Wheeler Conference Room.
