Emporia High softball dropped its doubleheader against Hayden on Tuesday at Peter Pan Park.
Hayden jumped out in front with a four-run first and won 17-5 in game one. EHS got two back in the bottom of the frame after leadoff singles from Molly Williams and Chloe Steele. An error brought in Williams and Steele scored on a MacKayleigh Arrington sacrifice fly. Emporia tied it up at five with a three-run second. Two Wildcat errors and hits from Marley Sewell and Atlyn Heffron sparked the big inning. Hayden scored the next 12 runs to pull away.
Steele stole two bases and scored a run.
Alivia Barrett took the loss in the six-inning complete game.
The Emporia bats were quieted in game two 6-0 loss. The Wildcats scratched across two runs in the second and four in the fourth. EHS managed just three hits.
Delaney Davis pitched all seven innings, giving up six runs, two of which were earned.
Sewell and Yzabel Ultreras each had two hits on the night.
EHS had 11 errors across the doubleheader. Coach Tommy McClure said the girls have to practice better.
