Lyon County deputies now say two people were taken to Newman Regional Health after a wreck in western Lyon County early Thursday.
Deputy Fernando Zuniga says the crash was officially in the 300 block of US Highway 50, developing around 5:15 am. Zuniga says a pickup truck driven by 57-year-old Michael Phillips had stopped in the westbound lane while preparing to turn into the A1 Pump and Jet parking lot. A car driven by 31-year-old Brandon Skidmore failed to yield and rear-ended the Phillips truck.
Phillips went by ambulance to Newman Regional Health for observation and possible treatment, while Skidmore went to the hospital by personal vehicle. The extent of injuries for both men are not known.
Hometowns for both men were not released.

7:15 am Thursday: One person to NRH after US-50 wreck; highway reopens to traffic
One person was taken to Newman Regional Health after a wreck on US Highway 50 west of Emporia early Thursday.
The wreck developed outside A-1 Pump and Jet around 5:15 am. Emporia Fire Capt. Wade Schmidt says a passenger car rear-ended a pickup truck for unknown reasons.
One person in the pickup was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment afterward.
US-50 was fully closed for over an hour and has since reopened.
5:55 am Thursday: Crash shuts down US 50 near A-1 Pump and Jet
US Highway 50 in western Lyon County is closed until further notice after an injury crash before sunrise.
The crash was reported outside A-1 Pump and Jet in the 300 block of US-50 around 5:15 this morning. Early indications are two vehicles were involved. At least one patient has been taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health for observation and treatment afterward. Other crash details are currently pending.
US-50 is closed between Roads C and D as the crash investigation continues.
