Hundreds of kids wasted no time diving into Easter egg hunts on Saturday, despite cool and breezy conditions.
That horn signified the start of the Flint Hills Optimists’ annual event at Jones Park. Lead organizer Stan Fowler says there is a big reason why the egg hunt has had a lot of staying power.
The Optimists’ event saw around 13,000 pieces of candy snapped up in short order, thanks to an ongoing partnership with Sweet Services out of Illinois.
Meanwhile, Embrace Church Emporia organized a community Easter egg hunt at Fremont Park. Americus, Cottonwood Falls, Gridley, Melvern, Olpe and Neosho Rapids were among nearby communities that all had Easter egg hunts Saturday.
