Worshipers from across the community once again began their Easter Sunday by convening at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building parking lot for a unique service courtesy of Messiah Lutheran Church.
The annual drive-in worship service welcomed close to 100 vehicles to share in a time of song, fellowship and to hear a message delivered by Messiah Pastor Adam Bridgman. Pastor Bridgman stated during his sermon that when it comes to his, and possibly many others’, experiences with death, the story of the empty tomb “doesn’t fit.”
Pastor Bridgman went on to say that it is his belief that we can sometimes “misunderstand that this story is exclusive to Jesus and don’t realize what it means to our lives.”
He says the story is not all about “understanding” and comprehension of death, but rather it means the fulfillment of a promise.
Bridgman adds that it also means “We have hope.”
The service was broadcast in its entirety on KVOE 1400 AM, 96.9 FM and KVOE.com. Messiah Lutheran had held a drive-in service for years but discontinued it after a drive-in theater closed. The annual holiday service resumed in 2010 and has been held every year since then.
