Sunday was the start of a new era for Good Way Gardens in more ways than one.
First, the local non-profit hosted its first of six concerts as part of the monthly Good Way Sunday series for 2026 in its new home, Fremont Park, after originally holding all activities at the historic Howe House. Director Elxa Dawson says she feels the new location will be a great fit and a great venue to attract new attendees and collaborators.
Speaking of collaboration, many of the collaborative partners with which Good Way has teamed up over the past few years were on hand for the event, including the Emporia Arts Center, which, as always, provided a fun art activity. Also on hand was House of Morrow, which shared poetry readings from students enrolled in its Diverse Voices literacy programs.
Dawson says these partnerships have played a big role in bringing Good Way to where it is now.
The Good Way Sunday concert series will be held every first Sunday of the month in Fremont from 4-6 pm now through October.
Aside from the change in venue for the concert series this year, Dawson says another new and exciting venture for Good Way is that it is looking to expand its reach locally with a new indoor concert series, which is currently in the works.
