The Emporia and Area Athletes of the Week were announced Monday morning.
Jackson Meinke won the Emporia Athlete of the Week award. The Spartan third baseman went five for five in a doubleheader sweep of Wichita North on Friday. The junior hit his first homerun while driving in five and scoring six times in the series.
Peyton Pitts of Osage City took home the Area Athlete of the Week honors. The Lady Indians won three games as Pitts struck out 20 hitters. The senior picked up her 400th career punch out. She added five hits at the plate.
