Contracts for train crossing improvements will be one of the key items up for approval by Lyon County Commissioners when they convene for their regular action meeting Thursday morning.
As part of their agenda, commissioners will consider approving an agreement between the county, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and the Kansas Department of Transportation for the installation of crossing arms and lights at the BNSF crossing at Road V south of Rading. If approved, the county will be responsible for contributing to the installation of the crossing warning signs.
Commissioners will also consider approving a closure of Locust Street in Americus from 4 am to 11:59 am on April 11 for the Flint Hills Gravel Ride and the ordering of parts for the Lyon County Highway Department’s excavator for an estimated $5,800.
Separate items of business will include approving the purchase of NinjaOne Remote Monitoring and Management for $9,180. The contract for the software was previously approved in December, allowing the county to take advantage of a 3-month free promotion.
An invoice from Kansas Security for card locking doors on all rooms that house election information for a total of $24,752 will also be considered. The meeting will begin at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
