After a successful first season at the helm of Emporia High basketball, Head Coach Evan Burns is hosting a summer youth camp.
The Emporia Boys Basketball Camp will run from May 26 through June 25, giving young athletes four days a week of instruction inside the high school gym. Sessions are scheduled from noon to 2 p.m., with Fridays off, allowing players consistent time to develop their game over a five-week stretch.
The camp is open to boys entering grades 3rd through 8th, offering an opportunity for younger players in the community to learn directly from the Spartans coaching staff and players. Coach Burns will lead the instruction, focusing on fundamentals like ball handling, shooting, and overall skill development. The camp is open to anyone regardless of school district.
In addition to drills, campers will get the chance to compete in 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games, along with various contests designed to keep the environment both competitive and fun. The goal, according to organizers, is to build confidence and basketball IQ while fostering a connection between the youth and the high school program.
The cost is set at $250 for the full five weeks or $60 per week, with multiple payment options available to families.
