The Emporia State women’s disc golf team wrapped up day one of the Collegiate Disc Golf National Championships with three top ten finishes in singles. Defending national champion Atlanta Krueger couldn’t pull off the double finishing in fifth. Teammate Madeline Joiner and Isabella Parker tied for seventh. The Lady Hornets led the way with three players in the Final 9 competition. In the team competition, E-State’s Black team of Joiner and Parker is tied with a team from Liberty for the day one lead. The Gold team of Krueger and Maya Ringgold is six shots back in fifth.
The Hornet men have two in the D1 Final 9 of the men’s competition. Jaden Rye leads the men’s singles competition by three strokes. Carter Ahrens is five shots back in fifth. In the D2 competition, Isaiah Esquivel has qualified through to the Final 9 and is in second place. In team play, the Hornet D1 men’s team of Rye, Reel, Ahrens, and Tyler Ahrens are in first place with a two-shot lead over Milligan. The E-State D2 team is tied for third.
