The Emporia State disc golf team celebrated its second national championship on Thursday as Jaden Rye won the men’s D1 singles title in Rock Hill, S. C. Rye shot -11 overall including -5 in the Final 9 to win by six shots. He had a four stroke lead going into the final and bogeyed the first hole, but responded with seven straight birdies to run away from the competition. It’s the second-straight year for a national title for the Hornet discers after Atlanta Krueger claimed the ladies national championship in 2025. Carter Ahrens finished in sixth for the Hornets. In the team competition, the Hornets lead with a three-shot lead over North Carolina State in D1. The Hornets are in second trailing the Wolfpack by one shot in D2. The Lady Hornet Black team is in second in the women’s competition trailing Liberty by four strokes. The E-State Gold team is in fourth seven back of the lead. The third round begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
