Rain chances are ahead for the next week.
There are slight chances of showers Thursday, with storms entering the forecast picture by late afternoon. Storms appear likely Thursday evening, with a marginal risk for severe wind and hail.
TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says this begins a lengthy period of unsettled weather.
Showers and embedded storms appear likely Friday and Saturday, with a marginal severe weather risk along and west of the Kansas Turnpike on Saturday. More storms are possible Sunday, with a slight severe weather risk just south and west of Emporia, and additional storms are possible Monday and Tuesday with slight severe weather risks both days. Meyers says this is a good time to be prepared.
Showers could develop Wednesday as well, but no severe weather is expected.
Besides the occasional risk for severe weather, area residents could get anywhere from 0.75-2 inches of rain through Sunday and more through Wednesday.
