The south half of Flinthills Mall was full of families as Newman Regional Health held its annual Teddy Bear Clinic on Saturday.
For the entire time it has been on the calendar, there has been one goal — making children at ease with their visits. Here’s Dr Ryan LaSota.
Dr LaSota also says the event helps older children get more vocal about their medical needs.
After check-in, children could send their teddy bears — or other stuffed animals, dolls and action figures — through a series of medical stations, including height and weight, immunizations, stitches and X-rays.
Besides staff from Newman Regional Health, Emporia State nursing students and a host of vendors had information, displays and giveaways.
Typically, the event is focused around center court, but with demolition and early construction underway for the new Ollie’s store, the Teddy Bear Clinic moved south — still using the main north-south hallway but also stretching vendors from the southwest entrance to outside the Flint Hills B&B Theatre.
