It’s a top-3 finish for Emporia Main Street in the USA Today 10Best contest.
Emporia finished third this year after finishing second the last two years. Director Casey Woods says that’s nothing to sneeze at.
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, finished first, followed by Waynesville, North Carolina.
Woods says Emporia Main Street has built a solid reputation, largely because of the work it does to improve the community in several different ways.
This comes as the National Main Street Conference continues in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Woods says there is no financial benefit to finishing third, but there are other benefits to a top finish.
Emporia won the contest in 2016.
