The Emporia State men’s track & field team won the ESU Relays at Welch Stadium on Thursday. The Lady Hornets finished in third place behind Oklahoma Baptist and Washburn. The Hornet men were 28 points clear of Central Missouri. Ezekiel Seamster finished third in the men’s 200m dash while Carson Fouard was the runner-up in the men’s 10000m run and Gage Chapman was third. Elijah Edwards placed second in the men’s 3000m steeplechase and the Hornet team of Seamster, Israel Domeh, Braden Lipjens, and Alden Mollerus won the men’s 4x100m relay. Lipgens and Seamster were also on the third place 4x400m relay team while ESU finished second and third in the 4×800 relays. William Allen placed third in the high jump while Connor Deters was the runner-up in the shot put. He also picked up a third place finish in the discus while Brooks Lowe won the javelin.
For the Lady Hornets, Stella Agbokpah pulled off the 100/200m double winning both events with Barbara Bentum finishing second in the 200. She also starred on the 4x400m relay team which included Mason Bina, Isabella Davie, and Bentum, taking second place. Madison Vermetten was the runner-up in the discus. ESU returns to Welch Stadium next weekend hosting the Hornet Invite on Saturday, April 25.
