The David Traylor Zoo was full of party animals Saturday thanks to the annual Party for the Planet conservation event, which took place through the mid-afternoon hours.
According to David Traylor Zoo Director Brenda Young, the event welcomed more than 250 visitors through the zoo’s doors with several vendors on hand offering a variety of activities all centered on keeping the planet clean and healthy. Young tells KVOE News that it is a common misconception by some that in order to help protect the planet, actions have to be grand and wide.
In reality, she says simple actions around your own home can have just as big an impact as any other large-scale cleanup or conservation project.
Some might say that one person making the effort won’t be enough; however, Young says that if we all do our small part, it adds up over time.
Normally, the zoo’s event coincides with an event through the Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center (PAROC); however, due to scheduling conflicts that did not occur this past weekend. PAROC will still be hosting its own Party for the Planet, which is scheduled for Saturday at 9 am.
