The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado damaged parts of Olivet as part of severe weather that affected the area Friday afternoon.
The Weather Service says an EF-1 developed just southwest of the town, tracked for just over a mile and dissipated a mile east-northeast of Olivet. Peak wind gusts were estimated at 105 mph and the maximum path width was 75 yards. The survey Saturday confirmed damage to outbuildings, including some that were badly damaged, with metal siding, framing and roofing debris getting carried several hundred yards northeast of Olivet.
The tornado happened during a tornado warning affecting north Coffey and southern Osage counties. No injuries were reported.
