The Kansas City Royals announced this morning a partnership with Hallmark Cards to bring a new development project to Kansas City, Mo. that would include a new home for the Royals and a new headquarters for the greeting card company long headquartered in the “City of Fountains”. The project will be built on the current footprint for Hallmark’s corporate office at the intersection of Pershing Road, Gillham Road, and East 25th Street. Officials say that the project will include $2 billion of private investment and will be supplemented by the city and the state of Missouri through the Show-Me Sports Investment Act. Royals owner John Sherman talked about the new home for the ballclub.
Officials say the development will necessitate 20,000 jobs for construction alone. Officials say that there will be ‘ample parking with in a 10-minute walk to the stadium and that the new ballpark would be among MLB’s most walkable. Officials expect to break ground for the project in 2027.
