An Emporia man was hospitalized following an injury crash near Council Grove Thursday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, the accident was reported at 5:50 a.m. on Kansas Highway 177 northbound, just south of Dam Road. KHP says a 2023 Toyota Corolla, driven by 22-year-old Jason Foust of Topeka, was traveling southbound and, for unknown reasons, crossed the center line, striking a 2026 BMW X5 driven by 53-year-old Mark Ulrich of Emporia.
Following the impact, both vehicles entered the east ditch and came to a rest. Foust had no apparent injuries as a result of the collision, while Ullrich was taken to Morris County Hospital with suspected serious injuries.
Both individuals were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
