Emporia FC picked up a strong 2-0 victory over Sporting Wichita at Emporia Middle School on Friday evening, delivering a composed performance on both ends of the field.
The home side struck first in the 14th minute when Patrick Alouidor converted a penalty kick after a foul in the box. The early goal gave the Black Lions control of the tempo as they settled into possession and limited Sporting Wichita’s attacking chances.
Goalkeeper Pedro Silva proved crucial before halftime, preserving the lead with a key penalty save late in the first half. His stop shifted momentum firmly in Emporia’s favor heading into the break.
Emporia FC extended their advantage shortly after halftime when Rafael De Almeda found the back of the net in the 47th minute.
Silva anchored the defense the rest of the way, earning a clean sheet as Emporia FC held off Sporting Wichita’s attempts to rally for their first win.
