Formal charges are pending against a California man after a traffic stop near Council Grove this past Saturday.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy had a traffic stop on a U-Haul truck pulling a camper on US Highway 56 east of Council Grove for an expired tag. The deputy deployd K-9 Kimber for a “free air sniff,” and Kimber alerted to possible narcotics on the camper. A probable cause search followed, leading to the alleged discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
In addition, the investigation discovered the truck was allegedly stolen from Colorado.
David Moore, age 50, was arrested and confined on suspicion of theft, meth distribution, paraphernalia possession and operating a vehicle without a valid license and without registration or with expired tags.
Council Grove Police helped with the stop and resulting search.
