The Emporia Recreation Center pool remains closed with no clear timeline for reopening after a mechanical issue surfaced earlier this week.
According to officials, a failed gasket seal has kept the pool pump offline since Wednesday, preventing normal operations and forcing the temporary shutdown.
Executive Director Amanda Gutierrez provided an update during the KVOE Morning Show on Friday, explaining that an outside company was scheduled to open up the pump later in the day to assess the damage and determine next steps.
Until that inspection is complete, staff say it’s unclear how extensive the repairs will be or how long the pool will remain out of service.
Gutierrez says the closure is impacting many in the community who rely on the facility for regular exercise and fitness.
Updates on the repair timeline are expected once the pump has been evaluated.
