The Emporia State baseball team took the series over Northeastern State 10-1 on Friday. NSU got on the board first in the second inning, but the Hornets rolled late scoring nine runs in the fifth inning and later. Four runs scored in the fourth with three coming on an Evan Abbott home run. Frankie Santiago launched his 15th dinger of the year in the eighth inning. Seth Stover (6-3) pitched 6.0 solid innings allowing four hits and just one run. Head coach John Martin said he wanted to see more consistent effort on Saturday.
Abbott went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI’s and said he felt relaxed at the plate.
ESU (34-15, 21-14 MIAA) goes for the sweep Saturday at 12:00 p.m. Senior Day festivities are set to begin at 11:35 a.m.
