Senior Night Sweep for Emporia High baseball over Iola on Friday.
The Spartans walked off in nine innings 5-4 in game one.
EHS spotted the Mustangs a three run advantage. Emporia started the comeback in the fifth scoring two. Oliver Kline singled in a run and Micah Gray grounded out to bring in another. Emporia tied it in the sixth off a base hit from Eluterio Trujillo. Both teams scratched across a run in the seventh as the game went to extras. Jackson Goodman scored on a wild pitch in the ninth.
Colton Eubanks earned the win in relief. He struck out six in three innings of work.
The Spartans took game two 8-4.
EHS scored their first three runs without the benefit of a hit. In the third, Kline recorded the first hit and drove in a run to extend the lead to 4-2. The Spartans added insurance runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth.
Trujillo earned the win. He struck out eight in six innings.
Head coach Anthony Markowitz was happy to get the wins for the seniors.
Emporia improves to 8-10 and is off until Friday, May 8.
