An expansion of sorts is on order for the National Memorial to Fallen Educators.
Following a successful 12 for 12 fundraising campaign earlier this spring, the National Teachers Hall of Fame has ordered two granite stones to be used to honor teachers, administrators and support staffers killed in the line of duty throughout our nation’s history. The three stones currently at the memorial are full, prompting the Hall of Fame to ask the public to honor the 12 educators needing to be added. Residents responded, donating over $35,000 for the cause as of Thursday with more funds still coming in.
The memorial will be rededicated June 20 as part of the Hall of Fame’s annual induction ceremonies. If the new tablets are not in place by then, they should be installed later this summer.
