The produce wasn’t the only thing fresh inside the Emporia Farmer’s Market parking lot Saturday morning, as a fresh new face was getting acclimated to her new role at the helm of the market.
New Director Ginger Hartup was taking on her first market behind the kiosk after being recently selected as the entity’s new leader earlier this year. Hartup, who spoke with KVOE News Saturday, previously was a vendor at the market and says she was honored to be taking on the role of director, adding her time behind a booth has helped give her a great perspective on how to best support market vendors moving forward.
In addition to Hartup, there were many other new faces at the market, many of whom were manning the booths in the parking lot. Hartup says in her first year as director, she is hyper-focused on adding more products than before, saying they want to have something for everyone.
Hartup says they’re also paying close attention to younger residents this year with new activities and programs weekly, as she feels it is very important to get the next generation of vendors and buyers invested in the market.
With the outdoor season now underway, markets will run every Saturday from 8 am to 10:30 am through October. Wednesday markets will begin in June and run weekly from 5 pm to 6:30 pm through September.
