Emporia State University is welcoming its second finalist for the Dean of the School of Business and Technology to campus this week.
Emporia State alum Mohammad Merhi, currently a professor and associate dean at Indiana University at South Bend, will have a community meeting Monday, followed by an open presentation Tuesday. Merhi earned a master of business administration degree in computer information systems from Emporia State, following that with a Ph.D. in business administration from University of Texas-Pan American, now called Texas Rio Grande Valley. Merhi has been with Indiana South Bend since 2014, currently serving as an associate dean and coordinator in the university’s Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics.
Merhi follows Derek Yonai, a former Emporia State professor, who was on campus late last week. Merhi’s community gathering will be at 4:30 pm at the Sauder Alumni Center. The open presentation will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday at Cremer Hall Room 205.
The final candidate will have public gatherings on campus Thursday and Friday. The next dean succeeds Ed Bashaw, who retired at the end of the 2024-25 academic year after six years leading the department.
