The MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships for 2026 wrapped up in Pittsburg, Kan. on Sunday and the hosts continued to dominate. The Gorillas claimed their sixth consecutive MIAA title while the women won their third in a row with both claiming victory by margins of over 80 points. The Hornet men finished fifth while the women were eighth. The multi events wrapped up on Saturday and Lou Dumas finished just off the podium in fourth place in the women’s heptathlon while Isabella Davie was fifth. Luke Grace took second in the men’s decathlon. The Hornets went 2-3 in the men’s javelin to start Championship Sunday with Brooks Lowe throwing 223 ft.-4 in. for second place while freshman Grayson Walburn was third. Connor Deters was just out of the top three in the shot put finishing fourth.
On the track Sunday, ESU was third in the men’s 4x100m relay with the team of Ezekiel Seamster, Israel Domeh, Braden Lipgens, and Alden Mollerus finishing third with a time of 40.4 seconds. Freshman Stella Agbokpah was second in the women’s 100m dash running 11.56 seconds while Mason Bina was just off the podium in the women’s 800m run finishing fourth. ESU chewed up the field in the men’s 200m finishing second, third, and fourth with Israel Domeh falling to the winner from Pitt State by just five hundredths of a second. Mollerus was third and Seamster was fourth. Agbokpah was bested again by the same junior from Central Missouri who won the 100m dash in the 200 while Barbara Bentum just missed the podium in fourth. ESU wrapped up the day with hardware in the relays with the Hornet men picking up third in the 4×400 thanks to the team of Lipgens, Domeh, Andrew Holton, and Emmanuel Dukpe. The Lady Hornets also finished third in the same race with Bentum, Bina, Agbokpah, and Davie bringing the baton around. Last Chance Qualifiers begin on Friday before the national championship field is set for May 21 in Emporia.
