Emporia residents will have a chance to enjoy a quick lunch for a good cause this week as the annual Denim & Diamonds fundraiser season gets underway.
A kick-off BBQ is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering a convenient pickup option on the east side of the hospital at Entrance F of the Patient/Visitor Tower at Newman Regional Health, located at 1201 W. 12th Ave.
Saylor Middleton and Jelinda Watts, joined the KVOE Morning Show on Monday to promote the upcoming meal. Middleton said you won’t have to leave your vehicle to get your meal.
Delivery will also be available within Emporia city limits for orders of more than five meals, making it an option for workplaces or groups looking to participate.
Watts, who has only been in her role for a short time, says she has already been impressed by the level of community support.
For $12, attendees can enjoy a BBQ sandwich smoked by Bobby D’s, along with sides, dessert, and bottled water. Organizers say the event is designed to provide a quick, affordable meal while supporting an important community cause. Those interested in delivery or ordering ahead can call (620) 341-7781 .
The fundraising efforts will wrap up on August 7 with the Denim and Diamonds Gala. Country artist Frankie Ballard has been announced as the musical act.
Proceeds from this year’s Denim & Diamonds events will go toward upgrading surgical equipment to help ensure patients receive the safest, most advanced care possible.
