An Emporia woman accused of distributing drugs near an Emporia school as part of a law enforcement pursuit earlier this year has accepted a plea agreement in her case.
Mariel Martin, age 40, pleaded no contest to distributing methamphetamine, as well as aggravated battery – reckless deadly weapon and flee and elude. Other charges, like meth distribution within 1,000 feet of Village Elementary, possession of paraphernalia and criminal threat, are dismissed.
The agreement has Martin serving a prison sentence with no departures to be filed by either prosecutors or defense. Martin may request concurrent sentences, but prosecutors currently plan to request consecutive aggravated sentences.
Sentencing is July 1.
Martin was accused of leading a chase that ended near Village on Feb. 6 after Martin’s car crashed into a minivan at 15th and Prairie.
