Two days after an alleged stabbing incident in northeast Emporia, law enforcement has apprehended the chief suspect in the case.
EPD announced Friday evening that it had received information to the whereabouts of 24-year-old Makayla McCray, located and apprehended her without incident. McCray was identified as a suspect after an unidentified 31-year-old man was allegedly stabbed around 2:30 pm Wednesday afternoon.
The man was taken to Newman Regional Health and later transfered to an unnamed hospital. His condition has not been announced.
Formal charges against McCray are currently pending.

The search continues for an Emporia woman who allegedly stabbed a man earlier this week.
Officers have been looking for 24-year-old Makayla McCray since an alleged incident in northeast Emporia around 2:30 pm Wednesday. McCray is a white female, 5-foot-1, 125 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. McCray also has tattoos on her right cheek, arms, hands and neck.
The alleged victim, a 31-year-old man, was taken to Newman Regional Health and later transferred to an unnamed hospital. His condition has not been released.
Lyon County Crime Stoppers has a reward of up to $1,000 for tips. Rewards are only given if information leads to arrests and convictions.

Emporia Police investigators say a stabbing suspect is at large after an incident in northeast Emporia on Wednesday.
Officers responded to a currently-unlisted address at around 2:30 pm, finding a 31-year-old man with at least one laceration to his back. The unnamed man was first taken to Newman Regional Health before being transferred to another hospital. The man’s condition is currently unclear.
As the investigation continued, officers began honing in on 24-year-old Makayla McCray as the suspect. McCray is listed as at large with officers “actively attempting” to find her. McCray is a white female, 5-foot-1, with brown eyes and black hair.
