The final candidate looking to take on the role of Dean of the Emporia State University School of Business and Technology had his first official introduction to the community Thursday afternoon.
Dr. Robert Allen King, the current associate dean of undergraduate business programs, associate professor of marketing and professor of business at West Texas A&M University, met with residents at the Sauder Alumni Center ahead of his official presentation to staff and students Friday afternoon. King follows former Emporia State Professor Derek Yonai and ESU alum Mohammad Merhi, who had their visits to campus late last week and earlier this week.
King is the only candidate with no prior knowledge or presence at Emporia State and told KVOE News he believes that could be an advantage to him, as, if chosen as the school’s next dean, it would allow him to lead with a fresh perspective.
As for his vision for the school, King says he believes focusing more attention on current needs within the business sector, namely AI, can lead to greater success for communities and students.
When it comes to his leadership style, King says he embraces the concept of collaborative communication to drive success.
The chosen candidate will replace Ed Bashaw, who retired last year after leading the School of Business and Technology for six years. Word on when the next dean will be announced is currently pending.
