An electrical malfunction was listed as the cause of an equipment fire at an east Emporia residence Sunday afternoon.
Emporia Fire was called to 722 Lakeview just after 2:30 pm. According to Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage, crews arrived to find a skid steer in the back yard of the residence with fire coming from the engine compartment.
Crews managed to extinguish the fire before it could spread beyond the engine. As mentioned, an electrical short was determined to be the cause of the incident; however, the fire did not significantly damage the equipment, with Steinlage saying it was “salvageable.”
No injuries were reported.
