The Area and Emporia Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday.
Akyra Traver of Marais des Cygnes Valley is the Area Athlete of the Week. The future Lady Hornet had two doubles and two triples in a sweep of Northern Heights. She also drew four walks, scored six runs, and drove in five. She ended the week with another two victories over Oswego. The senior scored five runs and brought home three in the doubleheader.
Chesney Erkel is the Emporia Athlete of the Week. Erkel captured silver at the Centennial League meet at Lake Shawnee Golf Course in Topeka last week.
